Fairy shrimp eggs
If you already have the necessities for breeding triops or sea monkeys (aqua dragons) and only need eggs, then you can also opt for Fairy shrimps. They are smaller than Triops and similar to Sea Monkeys. Not all eggs will hatch, and only the strongest will survive.
Instructions for breeding fairy shrimp
Prepare a container approximately 10 centimeters high with a capacity of about half a liter of spring water. This water should be heated to about 25 degrees Celsius, for example, by using a heat lamp. Bring a layer of about 5 to 8 centimeters of still spring water to this temperature, and then add the eggs. They will hatch 'on their own', isn't that wonderful?! After a few days, you can also feed them by grinding up and using triops food.

Formica fusca 5-10
Species
The Formica fusca ant is one of the best-known and most common woodland ants. They are known for their considerable speed. Red wood ants start their colonies by using fusca colonies as slaves. They take over nests. That is why these ants are also called slave ants. Our ant colonies consist of a queen, a few workers, and, depending on the phase, brood. This number depends on the number of eggs that have developed into ants (egg-larva-pupa-ant). This colony contains 5 to 10 workers, and these workers have therefore been produced by the queen ant herself. The queen lays eggs in phases.
Nutrition
The nutrition kit above is a complete diet for this nascent colony. The kit consists of sugar water, honeydew, and fruit flies. A larger colony also needs larger insects.
Suitable for
The ant colony is intended for acrylic, plaster, and sand ant farms. Due to their size, they are also very suitable for the plaster Ant Farm and other robust products. We also recommend using an outworld. The ants can get their food there and remove waste. Many products have an integrated outworld. If you are looking for ants for a gel ant farm, we recommend the ant family.
Packaging and shipping
The colony is in a test tube with a cotton wool stopper behind it providing water to keep the nest tube partly moist. The colony can remain in this tube for up to a few weeks without care (after receipt). We also guarantee the life of the queen for this period. If the queen does not arrive alive or dies within a few weeks, we will provide a replacement colony.
Specifications and information
| Scientific name | Formica Fusca |
| Difficulty class | 3. Advanced The species grows very slowly at first. It requires a lot of patience and peace, and they are critical about food. Therefore, it is a rather difficult species to keep. |
| Queen | Gyne: | 10-12 mm |
| Workers: | 6-10 mm The larger the colony, the larger the ants that emerge |
| Colony type: | Monogyn or Polygyn 1 or more queen(s) per nest. |
| Nest type: | Sand nests, often in sand and moss. |
| Temperature: | Room temperature, 15-30 degrees |
| Hibernation: | No, but winter dormancy. Our advice: keep them slightly cooler in winter, around 15 degrees. For example, in a cellar, cooler attic, or shed. November-February Our experience: even in winter at room temperature these ant colonies continue to develop well. |
| Nutrition: | Sugar or honey water and small insects: Our advice for smaller colonies: fruit flies. |
| Humidity: | Simple. Advice: Keep part of the nest slightly moist This species prefers drier conditions than, for example, Lasius niger and Myrmica rubra. |
| Distribution area: | (Southern) Europe and (Northern) Africa |
| Ant Farm Recommendation: | Acrylic, Plaster, or Sand including Outworld area |
| Notes: | The ants in this colony are impressive. They grow large, are beautiful to behold, and are very fast. Therefore, ensure a well-sealed nest and outworld if you want to keep these ants. Especially the beginning of the colony requires a lot of precision. Plenty of rest, offering the right food, and patience. |

20-50 fruit flies
Good for beginner ant colonies, young praying mantises, and various frog species due to their nutrients. A combination of fruit flies and sugar water (or honey) is a good basic food for an ant colony!
These fruit flies have been bred so they cannot fly, making them easy to feed to the colony.
The flies are delivered in a test tube and are intended for immediate feeding. They can also be frozen and offered later (for up to several weeks). You can also breed them. In that case, prepare a suitable culture medium in a container and provide paper strips for the flies to climb on. Immediately upon receipt, place the flies in the container with this culture medium.
Please note! We cannot guarantee live arrival of the fruit flies. If you need live fruit flies, you should purchase a fruit fly breeding kit.

Paradoxa Mantis
The nymph stage is between L3 and L7.
Information
Phyllocrania paradoxa is also called the Ghost Mantis in English. It owes this name to its unique shapes and alien-like head. The species can be recognized by a long, asymmetrically shaped protrusion on its head, which serves to make it look more like a dry leaf. Phyllocrania paradoxa is native to Madagascar and Africa.
Appearance
This species of praying mantis mimics dry leaves, so it blends in with fallen leaves in the forest areas where it lives. This allows it to unexpectedly snatch prey and remain unseen by predators such as insect-eating birds. The most common color for this species is dark brown, but sometimes green specimens can also be found. This color is determined by the environment; a more humid, greener environment often results in a green animal. P. paradoxa grows to about 5 cm long, with little difference in size between the sexes. Males are narrower with slightly longer wings than the abdomen. Females are wider with a broader prothorax and with wings that reach the abdomen.
Behavior
Phyllocrania paradoxa is a calm species of praying mantis. It is a typical sit-and-wait predator. Relying on its camouflage, it patiently waits for unsuspecting prey to pass by. As soon as it spots prey, it strikes lightning fast, and before the prey knows it, it is firmly caught between the raptorial forelegs of this predator. P. paradoxa will rarely actively chase prey, but rather wait for a suitable moment to strike. Sometimes this species of praying mantis is also a bit cautious and shy. A large pair of tweezers or a large hand in the enclosure will cause it to refuse prey. Just wait fifteen minutes and try again, and everything will be fine.
Food
Phyllocrania paradoxa primarily eats flying insects in the wild. It would therefore be good to offer them flies instead of crickets. However, crickets are also readily eaten and are therefore also excellent food for these animals. Just make sure that there are no loose crickets in the enclosure when the praying mantis is molting. An adult P. paradoxa can handle adult crickets, but it is better to give them smaller crickets, e.g., size 6 or 7. P. paradoxa are somewhat easily intimidated by large tweezers with prey.
Environmental requirements
The ideal temperature is about 26 °C, but can vary between 20 °C and 30 °C. At night, it can be slightly cooler than during the day, but at least 18 °C. This species needs relatively high humidity, about 60 to 90%. This is achieved by spraying with water about 5 times a week. As with all species of praying mantises, this species needs an enclosure that is at least 3 times the length of the animal in height and at least 2 times the length of the animal in width. For an adult animal, this means at least 15 cm in height and 10 cm in width. A good size for a terrarium would be 20 x 20 x 30, so there is also room for artificial plants and many perches. Dry leaves blend beautifully with this species; sometimes they completely disappear into the environment.
Group housing
The special thing about this species of praying mantis is that they can often be kept together their entire lives without cannibalism. The conditions for this are that the animals always have enough to eat and that the enclosure is sufficiently large. Many people successfully keep groups of P. paradoxa in a large terrarium. The chance of cannibalism is then small, but with this type of predator, it always exists.
