No, the packages are packed at that time and scanned by the transporter (DHL) in the evening. This means that the package can only be tracked once it has been scanned at the depot, which is usually in the early evening.
All orders placed before 4:30 PM are shipped the same business day. As soon as you receive confirmation from DHL, you can often still adjust the delivery method. You can also see here within which time frame your order is expected to be delivered. When adjusting the delivery method, you can choose a different location, a DHL Parcel Shop, or a different date. Please note: we can never guarantee a delivery day with 100% certainty. DHL is on time in 98% of cases (the next day), but unforeseen delays in shipping can always occur. Within the Netherlands, shipping time is usually 1 day, to Belgium 2 working days, and to other European countries 2 to 5 working days.
You have a guarantee on deliveries from Mierenboerderij.nl. If the queen ant does not arrive alive, or if ants have died resulting in fewer than the minimum number of live ants, you will receive a free top-up or replacement. Of course, all other rights regarding warranty and returns also apply. We cannot offer a guarantee on the use of food and care products or the preparation of gel. Please pay close attention to our advice and instructions. They are all detailed under Instructions & Media. And if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us, we'd love to hear from you!
Low or high temperatures are not a problem for the ants. If the weather is truly extreme, we provide a heat source during shipping when temperatures are too low (below zero degrees Celsius during the day) and postpone shipping when it's too hot (above 35 degrees Celsius). Of course, you will be informed immediately in such cases.
pet care and nutritionWhen you order an Ant Farm, we provide a comprehensive and clear Dutch manual. It contains all the necessary information! This manual is called 'Ants are heroes' and is packed with information. We also have a download page with all the information about the products and instructions to get started well. From care to making gel for an Antquarium product. And finally; feel free to contact us if you have any questions, we love it!
At the beginning of a colony, a few ants live, but in a mature colony, ants can live up to 2 years. An ant colony as a whole can last for years (up to 20 years). The lifespan is entirely dependent on the life of the queen, as she lays the eggs. Once she dies, a colony will unfortunately (slowly) die out. The lifespan of ant families varies; we now have customers who have had ants in a gel ant farm for more than six months to a year, but this also depends on circumstances. Fortunately, ants live just as long in a gel ant farm as in any other product (or in nature).
It's best not to release the ants into the wild. For the Lasius niger ant, it is difficult for them to make a new nest and they probably won't survive. For ants from abroad, the temperature in the Netherlands is usually too low, meaning they also won't survive. Antfarm.co.uk is willing to take back ants (sometimes for a fee for larger colonies), so always contact us if you want to get rid of your ants.
No, the environments of gel, plaster, and sand farms are all tailored to the needs of the ants, making them ideal. Ants also don't need much; just consider where you find them everywhere in nature (or around your house)! The queen ants that start a colony are caught during nuptial flights in the summer months, when billions of ants fly out. In nature, most of these would not have survived. Keeping fish in a fishbowl, or rodents and birds in a small cage, is in our opinion less animal-friendly...
That is possible, please contact us for this, we would be happy to make a proposal.
