An Ant Farm consists of three parts. Of course, you can buy all parts separately, but it might be difficult to put together a good set. That's why you'll find a few suitable complete sets below to start the hobby.
In an Ant Farm gel specially developed for ants, you can clearly see how worker ants (without queen and brood) create a system of tunnels, suitable for all ages. Do you want to see how a colony with a queen, workers, and brood develops? This is possible in a gypsum, sand, or acrylic Ant Farm. You'll need a bit more patience then (recommended age from 8 years).
Both harvester ants (Messor barbarus) and black garden ants (Lasius niger) are good species to start the hobby of keeping ants as pets. Harvester ants are our favorite ant species because they also collect seeds and use them as food, making them a bit more intelligent than other ant species, which is why you'll see this species in our offers below – super fun to observe!
Ant Farm Starter Set

The biggest challenge of the hobby is getting started. How do you ensure that your queen, with a few workers, grows into a healthy, large colony? The 'Ant Dock Station' in combination with the arena makes this much easier.
In addition to the excellent shelter and robust character of the 'Ant Dock Station', you can now also provide your ants with the correct temperature. At the end of the Dock, there is a recess where the 1-meter heating cable fits precisely (optional to order separately). By correctly positioning the heating cable, you can provide the test tube with your ant colony with the correct temperature. Now your ants will be nice and warm, even during the cold periods of the year! With the right temperature, your colony will grow the fastest, and that's what you want!
The Dock where you place the test tube can thus be seen as the nesting area, which is normally underground. Warmed by the sun, protected by the earth, and ventilated for the ants. This is all incorporated into the Dock. The Arena is the above-ground part. In this outdoor living area, which the ants can access via the transport tube, the ants can collect their food (which you place there once a week) and dispose of their waste.
How cool is it to be able to closely follow the ants' cooperation and the transport through the tube.

Sand ant farm set - introduction
The sand ant farm is handmade from high-quality transparent plexiglass and complete because the nest part and arena are integrated.
This sand ant farm set consists of two parts. The top is a sleek outdoor enclosure, closed with a handy ventilated lid. The bottom is the nest part. Both the nest part and the arena can be expanded on both sides. So, over time, you can build an enormous ant city.
The sand ant farm is suitable for both small and large ant species, including Messor and Lasius. Due to the separate outdoor enclosure, you can easily feed the colony with fruit flies and sugar water or honeydew (and the seed mixture for the harvester ants. Please note that the colony needs to get used to the new environment initially and will develop further from the test tube (test tube). Growing a colony therefore requires some patience.
We supply the sand ant farm set including a bag of sand-loam filling, a 10ml moisture syringe for adding moisture, and, of course, our digital booklet 'Ants are heroes'. The sand ant farm set is a complete ant farm with a great appearance.
