Fruit Fly Breeding Kit

Create your own fruit fly culture  

With this kit, you can set up your own fruit fly culture. Suitable for feeding your ants, praying mantises, poison dart frogs, and other animals. Please note: use immediately upon receipt, as the included fruit flies have a short lifespan.

Introduction

Ant farm gel

Let the ants do their work and watch a complete structure emerge! The gel ant farm is a high-tech living environment for ants. Based on the technology NASA used to study life in a weightless environment. It is completely self-sustaining; the beautiful transparent gel serves as food, moisture, and shelter. The only thing you need to add to the ant farm (16.5 x 15.2 x 3.2 cm) are the ants themselves.

How the Gel Ant Farm works

How long do ants live in the Gel Ant Farm?
Ants live from a few months to a year. The age can therefore vary. The worker ants we supply should last several weeks to a few months and are guaranteed to dig in the gel. If all the ants die within the first two weeks, we will send replacements free of charge.

How long does the gel last?

The ant farm gel is a complete food source for the ants. Since ants don't eat much and even dig up and reuse waste from the gel, it is more than sufficient for an ant family. We also have gel refills available in various colors to start anew.

Maintenance & care

Maintenance and care are simple:
- No additional feeding is necessary.
- Open the lid slightly a few times a week for some fresh air.
- Remove condensation and waste if possible.

Ants

This offer includes ants. These are worker ants from Southern Europe that create an underground system of tunnels and chambers in nature. The ants are sent in a test tube. They can easily stay in this tube for another week before being placed in the Ant Farm. How to place the ants is explained in the flyer and our booklet 'Ants are heroes'.

Ant Farm Master Messor Set

We can well imagine that making a choice is difficult when seeing all the possibilities for keeping ants as pets and all the available (care) products. That's why we have put together a special set that guarantees an excellent starting point for this super fun hobby!

A sleekly designed plaster ant farm forms the heart of this setup. A fully handmade robust plaster nest, very solidly mounted.

The ant farm is specially designed with a unique moisture reservoir. From the center of the nest, you regulate the humidity with the supplied syringe. The chambers in the middle around the moisture reservoir are shallow (4mm), so you can observe the center of your colony well. The chambers on the outside are deeper (7mm), allowing the workers to beautifully care for their larger brood there. All chambers and tunnels are connected. Be amazed at how the ants use and arrange this space.

On both sides, an opening is made to connect the Ant Farm to the test tube with the colony and the feeding dish or the arena.

You understand that we can't help but call this the 'Master series'. We have designed these ant farms based on our years of experience in breeding and caring for ant colonies.

Because they are handmade nests, the color scheme and material may vary slightly per product. The photos provide a clear picture.

You cut the tubing into pieces and then create your own beautiful setup. The photo above provides an example. We always recommend connecting the colony to the arena so that the ants learn to get their food there and dispose of waste.

BUGzzz insect breeding bottle

Breed your insects in an excellent habitat. A nice large and super transparent enclosure where your insects are very clearly visible. A well-ventilated lid with the logo ensures the best conditions for your new pet. You can house multiple animals in this unique enclosure. It is particularly ideal for breeding praying mantises, stick insects, leaf insects, snails, worms, and ladybugs.

Insect terrarium

Convenient This terrarium is specially adapted to the needs of insects.

Ventilation The terrarium is equipped with fine mesh at the top for ventilation for your new pet. The mesh is so fine that even small fruit flies cannot pass through it. This means you can even provide food for young praying mantises, and small stick insects cannot escape.
You spray moisture from the outside (top) so that your insects have the correct humidity in their enclosure.

Possibilities & Usage

You can decorate the terrarium nicely with suitable substrate and (artificial) plants. Breed your insects in this terrarium. The front panel is extendable, making it easy to maintain the enclosure and provide food for your insects.

Shipping and Care

The school package is in stock and immediately available. Please note: the package contains a coupon with which you can order caterpillars from the breeder by paying only shipping costs. This is possible from March through September.

Typically, after dispatch, you will receive approximately 3-5 fresh caterpillars and special food sent to your home.
The shipping time for the caterpillars may vary; normally, we aim to dispatch them on the same day if ordered before 4:30 PM. Should this not be possible, we will notify you. The dispatch of the caterpillars is separate from the dispatch of the breeding net. The caterpillars are shipped by our breeder from England. You request these yourself from the breeder using the coupon in the package.

Now you can really get started. Rearing butterflies is possible from March through September. The aim is to send 10 caterpillars, and the guarantee is that you will receive at least 7 and that they will grow into healthy butterflies.

First, the caterpillars eat their own food (supplied) so they can grow well. Then, they hang upside down in crystal-like spun cocoons. In the final stage, they emerge as beautiful butterflies. Observe them for a few days and then release them.

Usage

The butterfly garden is reusable, and after the butterflies have flown out, it is also a perfect enclosure for other insects such as ladybugs, praying mantises, or stick insects. The product can therefore be used multiple times to study nature more closely.
