Triops Breeding

Standard complete kit

With this standard kit you can breed Triops yourself! Triops are very special creatures. They do somersaults and spins in the water like true acrobats; they can even swim upside down.

Process

In this kit, you'll receive eggs from which Triops will emerge (this happens in just 1 to 2 days)! After about 10 days, your Triops will already be adults. And within 2 to 3 weeks, they'll lay eggs again. These creatures can live for 20-80 days, and after that, you can simply start over with the eggs they've laid. So, this hobby doesn't just end!

Triops grow to be between 2 and 6 cm long. How big these aquatic creatures become depends on the amount of food and light they receive and the size of the container you keep them in.

These special animals have 35 to 71 pairs of legs! When a food pellet is dropped into the water, you can see them grab the food and bring it to their mouth with their little legs.

To add yourself

- Spring water.
- A bowl or container that can hold between 1 and 2 liters of water (start with a maximum of 0.5 liters of spring water)
- A lamp that provides light and warmth above the bowl or container for the first few days.
If you don't have a warm room or lamp, a small heating element that can bring the water temperature to approximately 23 degrees Celsius.

Each BioDome is carefully and precisely handcrafted in the Netherlands from laser-cut acrylic. Due to this artisanal production and bonding process, subtle stress structures, also known as crazing, may be visible in the bonded edges.

These fine line structures are a natural characteristic of high-quality acrylic that is precisely bonded and are an inherent part of the manufacturing process. They do not affect the strength, durability, or functionality of the terrarium.

As with other handmade products, this contributes to the unique character of every BioDome.

This breeding cage is a super handy cage for stick insects, praying mantises, butterflies, and caterpillars. It is a lightweight cage made of sturdy mesh in a large size: 60 cm high, 40 cm wide, and 40 cm deep.

Ventilation

The mesh ensures sufficient air circulation and grip for the insects you can keep in it. The cage can be used on its side or upright, making it suitable for, for example, a group of Gongylus gongylodes or Phyllocrania paradoxa praying mantises, or for stick insects and a large food plant.

Possibilities

One side is made of completely transparent plastic. All other sides are made of fine mesh. The plastic sides are included so that you can use that side as a bottom, and no water, etc., will come through. There is a zipper with a closure on one side of the cage so you can easily access the inside. The entire cage can be folded into a package of approximately 20 x 20 x 4 cm. An elastic attached to the cage holds the bundle together. Perfect for transporting or storing the cage!
